Writing Challenge-Day #6
Five ways to win with your heart.
Wow, that could be deep. And what does winning with your heart mean? I think it means that good triumphs over evil. Now that is a simplistic view of what it means, and that is simply my interpretation.
1. Seeing the positive in any situation, no matter what. This obviously can be a huge challenge, especially when things are not going your way. When you are sick, a loved one leaves or dies or you lose your job. How can one see the positive in these situations. It's often not until after we have made it through these difficult times that we can look back and see how we have grown. How much more empathy we have for others because of what we have experienced.
2. Developing altruism. Why do we help others when there is no clear benefit to ourselves? Because we want there to be a more positive society. Because it is something we know will improve the life of someone else. Because this is simply what good people do. We'd be surprised how much of an impact a little round of good deeds could be for someone else.
3. Learning to love AND like. I feel that it is often easy to say to others, especially family and friends that we love them, because we do. That familial bond brings with it a deep sense of belonging and and connection that can survive the most difficult moments. To like someone however, can take more work. It takes a conscious effort sometimes to like a person, and not simply love and tolerate them. We need to look past their faults (because believe me, we all have our own faults) and see them for who they can be, not just for who they are right now.
4. Sharing your light. Each of us has a certain "light" within us. We are able to bless and benefit others around us through what we say, do and feel. We have the capacity to change a tough situation, simply by being there and being the type of person we should be.
5. Bringing in more people to our sphere of influence. We have the chance to influence others. If we draw a circle around ourselves, and place in who we think we have an influence on, we should strive to increase the size of that circle and the type of influence we can have on them. We should always look for ways to improve the lives of not only those closest to us, but ultimately everyone we come in contact with.
That's it for this one. Any thoughts?
